Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF A CLASSIFIED WORKER: The substitute classified worker will work on an on-call basis under the direction and supervision of a building or office manager, and/or under the supervision of a head cook.

  

Substitute Classified Workers perform the duties of regular classified staff members who are temporarily away from their assignment.

 

Substitute employees work on an on-call basis at various district sites with no guarantee of daily work hours.

 

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR A FOOD SERVICE WORKER:

  • Sets up serving carts and warming ovens for serving healthy meals to provide nutrition for educational achievement.
  • Fills condiment containers, sets out utensils, napkins, trays and other serving items before food arrives.
  • Serves meals to students and staff, serves appropriate quantities and presents food attractively.
  • Cleans and wipes down serving and meal areas between lunch periods, refills containers and serving items.
  • Serves as food service cashier, collects meal money and tickets and makes change.
  • Counts and records money and tickets, prepares bank deposits and may transport money to bank for deposit.
  • Assists in unloading food, and in placing food in serving carts and oven according to proper food handling procedures.
  • Cleans carts, tables and other food serving areas after meal periods; stores equipment.
  • Loads dirty dishes, pans and other food preparation items to be washed.
  • Washes dishes, utensils, pots and pans; cleans and wipes food preparation surfaces, dishwashers and counters
  • Know and follow health, safety and emergency procedures of the district
  • Work as a positive team member
  • Work cooperatively and communicate successfully with staff, students, and parents
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the education of all children and youth
  • Observe strict confidentiality regarding student and personnel information
  • Demonstrate professionalism through conduct, punctuality and optimum availability
  • Other related duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Food Handlers Permit

On-line Safe Schools Training (provided by the district)
