Our District:

The Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,000 students enrolled K-12.  Students are currently served by two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school; and the Sno-Isle Skills Center, a cooperative vocational technical school.

 Our Community:

Located northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area, Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Our “backyard” is the scenic Skykomish River and Cascade Mountains.  Sultan School District includes the community of Sultan, Startup, and Gold Bar.  Students from Index attend Sultan High School.

Job Summary: 

It shall be the responsibility of the Senior Class Advisor to supervise, organize, and coordinate all Senior Class activities including meetings with officers, monthly meetings with all representatives, organize and attend leadership conferences and assist with fund raising.

Essential Job Functions: 

This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.  Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:

  • Guide and supervise Senior Class activities and ensure compliance with the law.
  • Set expectations, clarify, plan, and set objectives for the officers.
  • Supervise and evaluate students and activities.
  • Monitor purchase orders, follow correct district operating procedures.
  • Monitor fund-raising activities, cash handling and reconciliation. Have all money deposited on same day as the money is collected.
  • Maintain inventory (equipment, uniforms, etc.).
  • Know what activities are taking place, utilize creativity, and demonstrate skills and preparedness.
  • Oversee the Senior Class budget, and work with students to anticipate revenues and expenditures.
  • Act as a role model.
  • Work and communicate with the Administrators regarding Senior class events/activities, issues/concerns, facility usage, etc.
  • Help coordinate homecoming and prom.
  • Keep a record of all meetings.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Required to deal with a wide range of student behaviors and academic abilities, or with a wide range of physical or emotional disabilities.
  • Required to adapt to shifting priorities and to re-channel work efforts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Exposed to visual display terminal.
  • Exposed to infectious diseases carried by students.
  • Exposed to student noise levels.

POSITION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and the public.
  • Ability to operate a computer and learn the operation of specific software programs for record keeping.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to deal with students in a warm and confident manner.
  • Ability to learn effective behavior management techniques.
  • Knowledge of student safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to organize activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
  • Ability to give and follow directions.

EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, FORMAL TRAINING:

  • High school graduation or equivalent and experience working with school-aged students

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement:

The recommended applicant, if not a current  employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of  employment eligibility.

Disclosure Statement and Background Check

Pursuant to Chapter 43.43, Washington Laws of 1990, the recommended applicant will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he/she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law.  In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the  Washington State Patrol.
