Salary: 13.52-16.35 DOE
This position's responsibilities are to collect, sort and deliver intra-district mail using a district provided vehicle, and to collect, sort and send mail. Responsibilities may include processing UPS deliveries, and delivery of small UPS packages. This position will process daily banking for the entire district. Performs all assigned duties in a timely and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Dependent upon the individual assignment, the District Courier may perform all or a combination of the following:
- Picks up, sorts, and delivers mail, inter-office correspondence, learning resource materials, assorted packages, and print shop materials throughout the district in a district vehicle. Delivers testing materials to and from sites.
- Delivers employee reimbursement checks to sites.
- Pickup/delivery of food services cash receipts and deposits from sites. Takes deposits to bank and returns deposit slips to appropriate building.
- Sorts, weighs, seals and meters mail. Delivers to post office; prepares necessary paperwork. Operates computerized postage scale on a daily basis for correct General Ledger coding. May process bulk mailing; may provide assistance to schools in the area of bulk mailing procedures.
- Posts board meeting notices at Post Offices.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Fuels and inspects vehicle; cleans and keeps vehicle orderly and organized. Records mileage daily.
- Models appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential information, consistent with district ethical guidelines.

- Prioritize and organize time and necessary resources.

- Requires concentration under various traffic and road conditions.
- Protects confidentiality of district materials; respects privacy rights of senders and recipients
- Required to adapt to shifting priorities and to frequently re-channel work efforts.
- Required to perform accurate and precise assignments, at times under strict and challenging deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires prolonged sitting; exposed to road and traffic conditions and inclement weather.
- Required to lift, carry and move packages and boxes that may weigh up to fifty-five (55) pounds without assistance (sometimes up and down stairs).
POSITION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment.
- Ability to read and follow road signs and directions. Ability to communicate effectively with staff. Knowledge of the rules and laws of the road. Ability to maintain a route schedule. Ability to maintain accurate records and logs. Ability to provide self direction and motivation. Ability to learn applicable postal regulations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor. Valid Washington state driver's license and a 5-year driving transcript/good driving record.
EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, FORMAL TRAINING:
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Experience dealing with school-aged children preferred.
- Washington State Drivers License
